Oh this one hits home! As a courier company based in Southern California our drivers receive hundreds of tickets each year. The cost of parking tickets has skyrocketed in recent years apparently to make up for budget shortfalls the city is facing. Budget shortfalls created due to bad deals made between the City of LA and some Wall Street banks.
While I can't pretend to be well informed on all of the particulars of this article, I find it upsetting that our local government may be using parking citations to generate revenue to make up for budget shortfalls apparently caused by their poor deal making. I will have to do some more research on this, but it seems unfair that buck gets passed to citizens like us to make up for budget shortfalls our officials caused.

Would love to hear somebody's thoughts on this.
